Welcome to the Condor Array Telescope!

In early August 2019, we learned that we were to receive funding from the NSF Advanced Technologies and Instrumentation program for our proposal "Concept Feasibility Study for a High-Performance Telescope Array." The proposal described the construction and operation of the prototype element of an "array telescope" consisting of six refracting telescopes, each equipped with a focal-reducing field corrector, motorized focuser, and motorized filter wheel, together with six large-format CMOS cameras on a common remote-control mount at the El Sauce Observatory in the Rio Hurtado Valley of Chile, near some of the best astronomical sites in the world.

It has been a busy seven months since August, and we are excited to announce the project broadly via our new web site. Various aspects of the telescope hardware and software are currently under construction, and we are hoping that the telescope will be deployed to Chile this coming (Northern Hemisphere) summer of 2020. (It is of course possible that travel and other restrictions related to COVID-19 may delay the deployment, but we are hoping for the best.)

We will be developing the web site over the coming weeks and months, so please stayed tuned for more.
